Realizing that health plays such a significant role in reaching full economic citizenship, and understanding the untapped market of the rural healthcare sector in India, Ashoka launched it’s first healthcare for all activity in India. The Healthcare for All program incorporate the Hybrid Value Chain model in its work through incubating a for-profit social enterprise, and accelerating the model around the globe through rapid piloting.
Ashoka has incubated a new social enterprise, Healthpoint Services, which launched in India in July of 2008. The Co-Founder of Healthpoint Services, Al Hammond, is also director of the Healthcare for All initiative at Ashoka. Working with Amit Jain, the CEO of Healthpoint Services India, Ashoka has played a key role in launching a radical model for transforming the rural healthcare sector.
